Much to popular belief, “self-care” isn’t just about bath-bombs, getting your nails done and cutting your hair after having a small identity crisis (surprising, I know).

According to trusty Wikipedia, “self-care is any necessary human regulatory function which is under individual control, deliberate and self-initiated.”

When it comes to being in control and self-initiating certain rituals in our lives, using positive and reassuring affirmations/mantras can be a wonderful way to start all our personal “self-care” journeys.

Affirmations or mantras are positive statements and thoughts that you repeat to yourself when you’re faced with challenges or negative feelings. These positive mental repetitions can actually reprogram your personal thinking patterns, which over time, will allow you to think and act differently.

Researchers suggest that people dealing with negative thoughts spend a few minutes every day thinking about their best qualities before dealing with stressful or everyday occurrences. Doing so can calm your nerves, increase confidence, and improve your overall chances of a successful outcome.

Whether you’re trying to boost your confidence, control negative thoughts, improve productivity or overcome a bad habit, self-affirmations are an incredibly productive way to keep yourself motivated and overcome the anxiety of self-doubt.
