If it's your first time getting a spray tan, we want to make sure your experience is as worry-free as can be. Find below common questions along with pre and post-appointment care tips:
It’s your first time getting a spray tan, and you’re not sure what is going to happen. You’re unsure if you should shave, or moisturize or do nothing at all? Don’t worry, after this article, you’ll seem like a seasoned pro.
BEFORE
If you'd like to wax or shave before your appointment, do so 12 hours before to avoid over-stimulating the skin. Make sure to exfoliate well before you shave as well as after.
When booking your appointment please inform our estheticians of any skin or health conditions. Certain skin conditions can affect our application and the final result of the tan. If you are pregnant please ask for your doctor's approval beforehand. Although NUDA products are safe and non-toxic, we realize that every pregnancy and medical situation is different. Your safety is our top priority.
The next step is a big one. Exfoliate! Let me repeat myself.. exfoliate! And make sure to do so 24-48 before your tanning appointment. Exfoliation helps to lift and rid the skin of any excess dead skin cells allowing the tanning mist to spread evenly along freshly exfoliated skin. At the end of your shower, grab your handy dandy exfoliating glove or loofah, and scrub down whatever area you are about to get tanned in circular motions.
You don’t need to apply any lotions or creams pre-tan as it will hinder the NUDA tanning solutions' ability to adhere to your skin. After you exfoliate (24-48 before), leave the skin alone. You are ready to get tanned, baby!

It is recommended to avoid contact with any liquids for at least 8 to 12 hours following the application. Premature exposure to fluids may prevent the NUDA solution from working its magic.
Continue to wear loose, preferably black clothing while you wait for the tan to set and develop.
Once you've waited the recommended time, it's time to shower!
Your first shower will be a simple rinse. You will notice the water turning brown as you wash off. NUDA solutions contain accelerators (bronzers) that give you an instant glow, while the remainder of the solution seeps into your skin gradually. These accelerators are temporary and will disappear as you take your first shower following the spray tan session.
During your first shower do not exfoliate or clean yourself with soaps/other solutions.
The next day, during your second shower, began gently exfoliate the skin.
Hydrating your skin is the key to maintaining your spray tan. Our solution contains moisturizing agents that will keep your skin hydrated until your first shower. After your first shower, you should apply a hydrating lotion every day to maximize the solution’s longevity. Be sure to use a lotion that does not contain mineral oils and/or petroleum, as these ingredients can cause the solution to fade away prematurely.
If you are traveling, we recommend that you avoid jacuzzis and opt for the pool instead. We also recommend applying a water-resistant sunscreen spray. When drying off, use your towel to gently sponge the water off your skin, and be sure to apply a suitable moisturizer before going to bed.
